Laura and Tony celebrated their love with one of the most hand-made, epic weddings ever! These two amazing individuals and gifted professional musicians; well known and loved throughout the national bluegrass music scene; held their own mini-bluegrass festival for their wedding weekend. They rented out a campground in Greenfield, MA and along with their loving families, many of the most important and familiar faces of the Northeastern U.S. bluegrass scene attended. These musicians, are also family…their ‘bluegrass’ family. There were so many magical moments to photograph that I’m doing this blog post in two parts. And many of my favorite images will sadly not find their way into the blog because there are way to many! Laura and Tony looked incredible. Laura was drop-dead stunning in her vintage dress, family heirloom jewelry and those amazing cowgirl boots! All of their hand made details were made with so much love…the flowers by Maid of Honor Elise, the most delicious pesto made by the groom himself, the song recorded by bride and groom and given as gifts to each guest, everything was hand-made and done with class and style. When I met with Tony and Laura a month before their wedding, they told me not to get ‘too excited’ about the backgrounds: being a kids camp instead of a typical luxurious wedding venue it would be more difficult to photograph w/natural beauty… but I found the unique challenges presented by working in this location made me focus on the most important things: the lighting, the composition, capturing real joy in the candid moments, telling an honest story of their magical wedding weekend. Welcome to the ‘bluegrass wedding’ of Laura and Tony, part 1. Part 2 here. Enjoy!
