It’s with great pleasure I write this entry to share the engagement session of Courtney & Scott. This slideshow features some of my favorite images from the day as well as music that I wrote and recorded on guitar and dobro, specifically to accompany this slideshow. I was so thrilled to receive an invitation from Jaclyn Watson of Jaclyn Watson Events and Lorin Holmes from VermontWeddings to participate in ‘A Salute To Our Soldiers’. In a sea of Vermont wedding photographers, it was quite an honor to be invited to participate in this meaningful event. A Salute to Our Soldiers is a contest to win a $70,000 dream wedding for one lucky military couple in the USA. Out of over 80 couples nationwide, Courtney and Scott were chosen as the winners after submitting their amazing love story. Both of them grew up in Vermont and served in the Vermont National Guard. In 2010 they were both were deployed to Afghanistan where Courtney worked as a mechanic and Scott was an infantry man in the Alpha Company. They barely knew each other at that point. On May 22d that year, Scott’s truck was hit by a rocket and Scott suffered a broken back, lacerated kidneys, a ruptured spleen and a collapsed lung. The truck was sent to Courtney for repairs, and when she saw it she thought, “whoever was in the truck probably didn’t make it”.

Scott was sent to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC where his recovery would be long and slow. It was from there that he got in touch with Courtney through Facebook and asked her to come visit him. She thought, “no way am I going to spend my leave in a hospital”…but he offered to pay for her trip and she decided to take a chance and visit him. In Courtney’s words, “when I saw him that day, I knew I had made the right decision and that we were going to get married someday”. Their story is truly remarkable and this dream wedding couldn’t have been given to a more deserving couple. It was such a pleasure getting to know Courtney and Scott during their engagement session. They are both incredible individuals and also the nicest people you could ever meet! This slideshow features some of my favorite images from the day as well as music that I wrote and recorded specifically to accompany the slideshow. We started the engagement session at Camp Johnson for some fun images incorporating the same model tank that Scott drove in. Check out the photos of Courtney making Scott do push-ups…so funny! From there I surprised them with a stop at a friend’s house who was kind enough to let us borrow his 1964 Ford Mustang convertible for some super cool images. This car is one of the very first Mustangs ever made by Ford…a true American classic and a huge bonus for our photo shoot! From there we finished up w/some romantic sunset images by a barn and a grassy meadow…iconic Vermont! After the shoot we shared a few beers and lots of laughs as the sunset turned to a night sky. I’m proud to call Courtney and Scott my friends and am looking forward to seeing them in the future. Congratulations on winning the wedding you so deserve and I wish you both all the very best!

Gwen & JT’s Engagement Session | Vermont Wedding Photographers

Ok I love these guys! Seriously, we had such an amazing time during their engagement session a few weeks ago and guess what…. tomorrow is their wedding! I had to post just a few photos from this incredible engagement session because I am SO pumped for the wedding tomorrow. Love Buzz Photo & Cinema will be providing both photo and video coverage, so it’s going to be a big day indeed! Gwen and JT had so much fun during their engagement session and I’m sure they’re going big for their wedding too. They are so appreciative and it’s been a real pleasure working with them. Here are just a few photos from their Vermont engagement session. There are way too many that I love so I’m going to have to post more at a later point, maybe even some behind the scenes shots too….stay tuned for more!

Shelburne Farms Weddings |Inn at Shelburne Farms |Coach Barn |Vermont Wedding Photographers

It was the perfect fall day in Vermont. Vibrant colors were bursting from the trees, it was ‘peak foliage’. And what a gorgeous fall it was this year in Vermont! I had the great pleasure of working with this lovely couple from NYC who were recently engaged and had asked me to capture this special time. They chose to spend the day exploring Shelburne Farms, a place they wanted to visit. As many engagement sessions start, the couple arrived a little nervous, however that energy quickly changed into excitement and we were laughing and having fun! We started at the Farm Barn with the amazing architecture as our first backdrop. The light was ideal for photography and I brought my favorite light modifiers to kick things up a notch. All the conditions were coming together beautifully, I was like a kid in a candy shop! We made our way to shores of Lake Champlain, past the Inn at Shelburne Farms and finally arrived to the Coach Barn. This historic property has so many sweet backdrops, and combined with such a cute couple, we could have spent all day exploring and creating stunning images. I want to share some of my favorites with you, along with a screenshot of the review the client posted on WeddingWire after the shoot. Enjoy!

Engaged! Nicole and Matt | Vermont Wedding Photographers | LoveBuzz Photo

I want to do a quick post today to share some really sweet images. A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing the engagement session for Nicole and Matt. These guys are a fun couple and the 3 of us had a great time that day. We were so lucky to be blessed with a gorgeous sunset that evening and we made the most of the ‘magic light’. As we quickly moved around maximizing our locations and looks, I’m sure Matt and Nicole were thinking I was crazy…because of how fast I was working through their session. Time was of the essence as the sun was dipping towards the horizon so we had to work quickly…I knew how much Nicole wanted that ‘sun-dappled’ summer look! Despite our fast pace, we were also getting to know each other and having a blast! It’s moments like this when I’m like a kid in a candy shop…beautiful lighting, sweet location, fun-loving couple…oh yea, I was loving it! I’m looking forward to Matt and Nicole’s wedding day which is coming up soon. Here are a few from their engagement session, Enjoy!

Engaged: Simone and Matt | Vermont Engagement Photographer

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing the engagement session for Simone and Matt. I met up with this fun couple from Connecticut near Matt’s family’s home in Woodstock, VT. It was sunny, warm and colorful foliage was everywhere…one of the most epic fall days this year. We had fun in downtown Woodstock exploring the covered bridge, the gardens in front of the Woodstock Inn, the park and the shops. From there we visited Matt’s family’s home. Nestled high up in the hills with a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains, we got some beautiful and more personal images. Stopping along the way as we passed other great photo ops, we made our way to the Longtrail Brewery to finish the engagement session with a few cold, tasty beers. The brewery is part of Simone and Matt’s love story…one of the places they would frequent as they were falling in love. It was only appropriate we got a few last photos there. The river behind the brewery was a bonus! I had a great time spending this wonderful day w/you guys!

Engaged: Michelle & Kolby | Vermont Wedding Photographers

It was a beautiful sunny day in Vermont when Michelle and Kolby became engaged on a mountain top overlooking Kolby’s family farm. Here, in this special place Kolby surprised Michelle with the big question and she said yes! With their dogs joining in on the fun, we explored some of the amazing locations around Kolby’s farm. The rich, rural VT heritage in this property offered us many beautiful backdrops for the photo session. I’m looking forward to Michelle and Kolby’s wedding at Boyden Valley Farm and Winery at the end of the summer!

NATASHA & NIRAJ, NEW YORK CITY ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

This past spring I had the great pleasure of heading down to NYC for Natasha & Niraj’s engagement session. It was so much fun! I’ve been meaning to post some images from this awesome photo shoot but have been so busy shooting all summer that I admit it; I’ve been a bad blogger! It was this past July that Natasha & Niraj had their amazing wedding weekend at the Mt. Top Inn and Resort in Chittenden, Vermont. There is one word I think of that describes their wedding weekend and that would be….’perfect’! Stay tuned for those photos coming soon! It was great to spend the day with Natasha and Niraj, getting to know each other as they showed me some of their favorite spots in the city. I was so excited for the challenges of urban photography and like Natasha, had my own check list of locations & looks I wanted to try. The three of us were feeling quite ambitious and after more than 5 hours exploring, having fun, and making some great images, we were all getting tired. It was just after sunset but we decided to rally for one last stop at the Brooklyn Bridge, an iconic feature of New York City. As the sky faded into a rich shade of night blue and the city lights began to shine and sparkle, we walked out to the bridge and made some beautiful images. Here are some of my favs from the day, enjoy!

LIZ & JEREMY, VERMONT ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

Liz and Jeremy came to visit me on clear summer day. The perfect day to hit the golf course for some romantic engagement images. So what is so romantic about golfing? Check out the close up photo of the golf ball w/Liz and Jeremy ‘snuggle putting’ in the background. Did I just coin a new phrase for all the golfing lovebirds? This little love note written on the golf ball was Jeremy’s clever way of proposing to Liz! I’m so glad they brought that along…it’s great to incorporate meaningful props during a photo session. I feel like the word ‘prop’ tends to have a bad connotation…as if some people think a prop makes a photo look too posed or something. I think props are awesome when they help give an image impact and make it unique and meaningful… especially when the prop is part of a couple’s love story. We had fun getting some quick photos at Kwiniaska golf course…so here’s a big shout out to the guys at the club! Thanks for giving us the clearance to make it happen. Later we headed down the road to see what cool scenery we could find. The good thing about Vermont is you’re never too far from fields, lakes and beautiful old barns. We stopped at each sweet location I saw, jumped out of the cars and made it happen. Funny, these guys said they were nervous and uncomfortable at first, but from the looks of these images you can see it’s clear….they totally rocked the camera! Looking forward to Liz and Jeremy’s big day next summer.

Taryn & Mike’s Engagement Session, Boulder Wedding Photographer

I was so excited to see Taryn and Mike for their engagement session in Colorado. We had already met in Burlington, VT when they visited early in the summer to plan their upcoming wedding at Sugarbush….and the wedding is just one week away! Having already shared a few beers and good laughs together, these guys feel like old friends. We have so much in common; they live in Boulder, CO and I have connections to that area through friends and family who live there. Colorado is like a second home to me. The light in Colorado tends to be pretty awesome…they regularly get a very beautiful ‘magic light’ at sunset. Combined with the dramatic western skies, it’s a welcome sight for any photographer who works regularly on the east coast. The Flatiron mountain range in Boulder is quite a majestic backdrop. I was looking forward to seeing Taryn and Mike again and knew how much it would mean to them to do their engagement session in their home town. Most of all I enjoy photography in new places and the challenges and rewards that come with it. I would get bored if I worked at one location every day. So we were all excited for our time together in Boulder and it was a beautiful, sunny day. We started downtown and had some fun by the river that flows behind the public library. Later we took a short hike up into the Flatirons that tower above Boulder. It was like going into a completely different world, just minutes away. There, as the sun was setting we had fun in the fields and cliffs and later headed back down into Boulder to share a few cold beers together.

KRISTA & COREY’S ENGAGEMENT, VERMONT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS

Wow, it’s 2012 already and I’m still super busy putting together photo albums and processing the last few engagement sessions from the 2011 season! I am super excited about the year ahead and looking forward to all the great events and new photo opportunities. It promises to be a very busy year for Love Buzz Photo!

I am happy to share these images from Krista and Corey’s engagement session this past October. They were pretty nervous at first but as you can see they were having fun and looking like naturals in no time! We were lucky to catch some gorgeous colors so late in the season and these photos capture being in love in autumn in Vermont! Hope you enjoy them and I wish you all a magical new year!
